Huffington Post walked in on what looked like a back-door-deal-in-the-works between Taiwan and USAID officials. Taiwanese delegate Leslie Lai and USAID rep Andrew Shaver exchanged hushed comments and what looked like a firm, definitive handshake before Huffington Post arrived on the scene, at which time Mr. Shaver proceeded to remove his hand from Ms. Lai’s grip in a rather awkward fashion. Chinese officials issued a statement threatening to cut off military ties with the U.S. for the eleventh time this year.
