Surprise Visit Sparks Protest and Chaos

A “surprise” visit by Hugo Chavez marred the first day of meetings on Haiti Reconstruction, sparking protests among the exile community in Miami and sending the Venezuelan delegation running…literally. Protestors held signs that read “FARC LOVER LIAR” and “NO MAS CHAVEZ.” Chavez did not appear bothered by such accusations, delivering his usual anti-American poison, while President Preval kept the UN Secretary General from throwing her hammer (I mean gavel) at him. The Spanish delegate Diego Aragon told Chavez to “shut up.” “This does not bode well for the conference,” warned Canadian delegate Julian Lee, shaking his head in dismay before returning to his perpetually happy Canadian disposition.
